hamsters missed their cue

Had the regional leader (?) I don't know what they're called, nor do I care what their actual title is, come in for the monthly "check up" on how every department was doing. She comes up to me while I'm doing the bedding change for two syrian hamsters who had to share a cage, and goes "oh how are these hamsters getting along, good?" And I say (politely but coldly) "well if they start fighting, I'll have to separate them. But they would do much better if they could have their own enclosures" She goes "well think of it positively, the more we can show these guys off the quicker they'll be able to find a loving pet parent to go home with. Well it seems like you're doing a good job so we'll move on"

Not even 5 minutes after she walks away, the two hamsters I had just cleaned house for starts brawling. Like not just your regular powergrooming for dominance thing- but ready to gnaw with full teeth and Claws.

As I separate them I just can't help but think "really guys?? Damn lady was standing right here a few minutes ago, you missed your cue!"

Also side note, why don't angry (rightfully so but are also extremely annoying to deal with) customers who always complain about the husbandry of our animals come when our corporate overlords take their field trips? I would love to see them sit there awkwardly while someone chews them out over the betta cups instead of me and my petcare coworkers
