HDMI connection without audio from PC to TV

Hello everyone,

I've been dealing with a no-audio issue for few hours. I wanted to play some games on TV using my PC, so I bought a 5-meter HDMI cable and wireless controllers. I connected the HDMI cable to my RTX 3060, and while the video works fine, there's no audio.

In the Nvidia Control Panel > Digital Sound settings, I can see the TV listed as an audio device under HDMI. However, it doesn't appear in Windows, even though I have the "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" options enabled.

I've tested the HDMI cable and the TV with a laptop, and they worked fine. I uninstalled the NVIDIA HD audio driver and installed the latest driver from the NVIDIA website. However, now the NVIDIA HD audio driver is missing entirely, and only the NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) is present. The TV firmware is also up to date, and both devices have HDMI 2.1 ports.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Updating Windows
  • Reinstalling the NVIDIA driver
  • Updating the BIOS
  • Updating all audio drivers from the motherboard manufacturer’s website
  • DDU to uninstall the driver
  • Windows Services / windows audio + Endpoit Builder restart

I believe there is an issue between the GPU and Windows. I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

Thank you!
