I’m posting this on behalf of my friend Sumedha because she doesn’t use reddit. Let’s refer to sumedha as S for the sake of simplicity

S enquired about a top they sell in multiple prints. She was shown the available options, she chose a print. The price quoted was 499 free shipping. When it came to payment, S was ofc hesitant to pay the full amount before so the owner of the store (Kropi Lovely is the banking name) offered that S can pay 300 now and 200 after the top is ready. The timeline provided to get it ready was 2-3 days and 3-4 additional days for delivery. Order was placed on 25th February.

Payment was done, address and other details were shared. After 3 days S enquired and she was informed that the fabric wasn’t available at the moment. S can either wait for the fabric to be available with the shopkeeper (their vendor) or choose from another available print. She waited for 2 days and when the original print wasn’t available, S went ahead and chose the second print because she wanted to wear the top for holi. The owner said that she’s going to the shop, will purchase the available fabric and let S know once she gets it.

(This conversation was on 2nd March to 5th March)

The owner did not inform S if she was able to get the fabric or not. S followed up regularly till 9th March. No replies from the store and mind you they were regularly posting stories

On 11th March, S reached out to me with the issue and I texted the store enquiring about a dress. They replied in a jiffy with the price and asking me if I wanted to book. When I mentioned about the whole situation with S, and that we want a refund by evening or we’ll post it on socials, the owner replied “Ask her to text,I must have missed the text cos there's alot coming. And dnt try to threaten here,if I have to scammed I would have blocked. I have been replying to her”

We had a short back and forth and the person texted back S being all defensive that she had a lot of texts coming in so she missed the message. (Understandable) When my friend asked for the refund because there was no way it would’ve reached in time for holi and the order was places around 2 weeks ago, the owner again went into attacking mode that she has other customers too, things take time to make without acknowledging the fact that she did not reply for several days which was an issue on her part. Like WTH!

And further added that she will report S’s account like are you seriously kidding me? The owner said that once S pays the remaining 200 she will ship the top. S wasn’t confident to pay the remaining amount because of all that happened. Requesting a refund of paying 200 after delivery is what S offered but the owner refused. She said she can show the proof that the top is ready. And you know what the interesting part is? The moment S asked that she share the proof, the owner again ghosted S. minutes before posting this, S has already dropped her a second follow up to give her the benefit of doubt.

I have attached all the screenshots below and I would request you all to help me spread awareness about this blatant scam and unprofessionalism. This is the reason people fear shopping from IG stores.
