The Last Campfire
I picked up the Last Campfire last week during one of nintendo's sales and honestly I would pay full price for this game. It hadn't been on my radar at all, but I am very glad I impulse bought it.
First off, it has a really enjoyable soundtrack that doesn't distract or annoy at all, which I think is really important for a puzzle game. I absolutely hate when there is an annoying or jarring song if I'm stuck on a puzzle.
Second, the puzzles were all really enjoyable and I wouldn't call any of them overly difficult. They added to the story, in my opinion, matching with the different struggles of the different Forlorn. For a full playthrough of about 6 hours I enjoyed them.
Third, the game has a beautiful story. It is a game about hope, death, loneliness, fear, the need for community, and especially perseverance, amongst the other parts of what makes up the Human Experience. It is definitely a story worth paying attention to while playing, but the game could be skipped through pretty easily if you weren't interested. I thought there were some really beautiful moments throughout.
Finally, game play was very smooth, no issues on Switch at all and I the game mechanics really enjoyable and the didn't take away from the story at all or add unintended difficulty to any puzzles. I also just enjoyed the art style, beautiful but simple.
Overall, I give it a solid 8-8.5/10, very worth picking up if you're into puzzle games, or just need something to do for a few hours. Easy game to pick up, play for a bit and put down.
