Mac or windows?

I am looking to begin learning programming. I went to school for Cybersecurity / networking and did most of my work in a Kali linux VM but I really want to learn more programming (specifically starting with python). I am also studying for the CompTIA certifications. I was interested in getting a MacBook Air but I’ve never owned any products in apple other than the phones. Will it be a bad idea to get a MacBook?
