Which SM group was the most likely to break into the western market?
SME has been able to make it in some of the biggest music markets in Asia and their groups are guaranteed success. So this is just a fun speculation post about a new market.
I wholeheartedly believe that Riize had the highest likelihood. First is music. Music is the biggest determinant of success and Riize's music is mostly easy listening with a fun twist. The music can appeal to a large number of people in a demographic and it was very trendy in 23/24 and maybe even this year. Compared to other sm groups, their music was the most likely to capture western gp's attention with more English lyrics and better playlisting.
Second, they had that whole TikTok thing going for them which is working out great for Katseye. Katseye was one of the most watched profiles in the US last year. Riize, with a little more push, could have leaned into the whole relatable gen z vibe that is so in right now.
