Is it possible to take the outer gate without being detected. [KCD2]

So I'm back for storming Maleshov and I figured with Dry Devil talking about no prisoners in the village that seemed like he was going to do more than set fire to the odd barn to lure the garrison out but slaughter the villagers, so i duelled him and we're going to take the fortress by stealth. Sneaking around the place I can get a good four or five of them without the horns blowing and everything using stealth kills and a windlass but I've tried it a couple of times and I can't seem to be able to do the whole thing without someone finding a body or something and the horns going off, then you end up with everyone deciding to run into the kill zone of the outer bailey until the cannon take the gate down. So is it actually possible to seize the outer gate by stealth or does the game have some pre-set system where it'd be impossible to get them all without it deciding they know you're here now.
