GMC Sierra EV: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly?
Hello everyone. I'm new to this community and I'm just seeking advice on this truck. I'm located in Canada, and this truck is roughly $122K CAD or 85k USD fully loaded.
We've currently have 3 vehicles: 2015 Ford Explorer, 2017 Honda Pilot and 2023 BMW X5 Competition. We've bought them all new.
We don't really care for depreciate value as we will keep this truck for 10+ years until it dies and then get a new one. We may trade in our Honda Pilot or just get this as our fourth vehicle, unsure right now. We always wanted a pickup truck for many years and now we've decided to pull the trigger and seriously consider a pickup truck and we've landed on the Sierra EV. When we saw it at the dealership lot the other day, we fell in-love with it.
We didn't get to test drive it because it was late and the dealership was about to close.
I guess the reason why I want this is because electricity in Canada is extremely cheap, while gas prices are through the roof. I would never consider this purchase if it was a gas-powered pickup truck. It costs me about $700-1,000CAD/485-$700USD per month to fill up on gas for my daily driver, while it would cost me $50 CAD/$34USD per month to charge my EV for the same milage driven everyday. So I figured if that truck becomes my daily driver, it would pay for itself.
The lack of apple carplay is bothersome as I'm an apple user but the Google OS for this car has Spotify and Waze support which is all I use. I also did some research on GM OnStar and I'm not a fan of its high subscription prices which it seems I will have to pay after my trial to retain spotify + google gps + remote phone functionality?
Anyways, what ate your guys overall thoughts on this truck? I'm really curious. Thank you for listening to me ramble.
