Recipe for “crappy” donuts

Hi everyone, I am an avid opponent of fancy donuts. While I also hate Dunkin’s direction (premade and frozen with insulting ingredients), I love a mom and pop donut shop (or even how Dunkin used to taste back in the early 2000s).

I see I can purchase premade dough mixes and premade tubs of chocolate icing, etc from restaurant supply stores, but I was wondering if I could get that flavor at home?

Example: yeast donut, chocolate frosting, sprinkles

I want the chocolate frosting to taste like a mom and pop shop, not a ganache. Is this only possible using the restaurant supply icings?

Would love any and all advice or recipes! Thank you very much.

TLDR: need yeast donut recipe and chocolate icing recipe that mimics a restaurant supply premade version
