Guarantor troubles due to non payment.

A friend is MIA after not paying for a bike he bought. The bike have been repossesed and now the shop called me saying they want to sue me since I'm the guarantor.

Here's the question, what will happen if I keep ignoring the shop? To my knowledge, they are only able to do small claims and nothing more than that. Can this be a police case?
