[Breitling Sextant] Advice: Breitling USA couldn’t repair, offered $2000 off new model.
Fellow horologists,
As the title reads, I’m in a bit of a pickle. Walked my heirloom (grandfather’s) Sextant B55045 into an AD and they sent it back to Breitling USA for repair (at any cost). Watch is in overall fair cosmetic condition, however non-functional. Received a call Saturday saying they couldn’t fix it and that they would offer $2000 off any new model. I rotate a DateJust and a Seamaster as EDC, and would ideally put any future watch funds towards a HT piece. Not in love with Breitling as a house, but could be tempted by this offer.
Were you in my position, what would you do?
Thank you for your communal commentary in advance.
Clarification: Breitling stated they would return the watch in addition to the discount, however it would have “an engraving made inside the case back.”
