Question about iMark

I really don’t want to talk about iMark’s decisions (Drummond, oGemma vs Helly) but more about what Lumon was trying to accomplish.

I don’t quite understand what the file iMark was assembling had to do with Cold Harbor. We know this was a big trauma for oMark & Gemma and led to something big (presumably alcohol and maybe an accident) but what are they really testing? My original assumption was that they were testing Mark’s emotional barrier by triggering latent emotions and seeing if it bleeds into iMark.

This doesn’t seem to be the case. Some theories here talked about iMark constructing the iGemma25 persona using these numbers and them checking if the io barrier holds in extremely emotional / traumatic scenarios but why would iMark be the one constructing the personas and not Gemma herself?

In the Goat room I didn’t get what they were trying to achieve? I assume inducing trauma to the person who has to kill the goat and then testing if it bleeds into into the outie?

I totally get that they were trying to see if they can construct the same person minus the trauma and testing if that person is still whole (ideally isolating each trauma into its own innie) and I also get how they want to construct adjusted innies that do boring, dangerous or traumatic tasks (birth pain, butchers, taking a long flight, dentist) while maintaining a normal outie persona.

I just don’t get why iMark constructing another person’s innie makes sense.
