Thoughts about Burt’s “sins”after S2E7
Could Burt have been a testing floor “doctor” prior to his severance?
Dr Mauer spends his entire day torturing the equivalent of dozens of people in various sadistic ways. I can’t think of something more likely to get you sent to hell. Could this be the sin that Burt and Fields are referring to that prompted Burt to sever? Even if Burt/Fields consider that work to be “mysterious and important” enough to continue working with Lumon, they could still feel that the actual act of torturing test subjects to be sinful, and require some kind of forgiveness/absolution.
oBurt could have grown weary of his role on the testing floor, but still wanted to contribute to the mission of whatever they’re trying to accomplish there…. Hence opting to just move up a floor to O&D as an innie. Could also explain the 20 years/12 years discrepancy from “Attila”. And maybe his “Lumon partner” was the nurse HE worked with on the testing floor??
Could be wrong, but what do y’all think?
