Very disappointed with the Samsung G60SD. Are there options with better "color accuracy"?
TL:DR
Is there an OLED monitor that is "color accurate" or can be corrected to it. The Samsung G60SD isn't it. I am not using game mode. I am primarily experimenting with Graphic.
TL:DR
I've been tinkering with the Samsung G60SD on my PC for the past couple of days and, as an illustrator and a gamer, the colors are atrocious.
The colors are UNBELIEVABLY saturated and the blacks and whites WAY too contrasted out of the box - to the point of absurdity and beyond even that. You might be thinking, why not just adjust the: saturation, contrast, brightness, gamma levels, etc?
I have, and then some.
I've created my own color profile, used RTINGS .icc profile (yes, I got it working), I've messed with every single picture mode and slider for hours, of course including recommendations from across the internet.
It cannot produce a result I'm satisfied with.
If you get one of the settings dialed in, another suffers. Some variation of it being way too red tinted, blue tinted, washed out, blacks too dark will always be a part of the end result.
The picture modes lead me to believe that there are hidden color management options that can not be accessed, making this even more of an impossible task.
Graphic and Eco mode seem to be the only functional modes for a merely OK result. To get something that looks almost correct I have to set the white balance blue to -50 (lol), in addition to RTINGS .icc and a variety of other tweaks.
In general the screen is difficult to look at with how many blown out areas of contrast or saturation there is. Even after tweaks, it's a bit difficult to look at unless you massively destroy the image by increasing the gamma or black equalizer options.
This is coming from a BenQ XL2540, which also is very bad for color accuracy.
I don't know why everyone recommends using Warm 1 as it clearly paints the entirety of the panel with an amber hue.
With that said - my question is...
Is there an OLED monitor that is "color accurate" or can be corrected to it?
I have no idea what RTINGS means by their assessment of color accurate, because the G60SD is an abomination. The best I can gets with extreme tinkering as a professional illustrator is - ehh.
I'm very much considering returning it and going back to my crappy XL2450.
The picture is more vibrant, but the clown fiesta of color inaccuracies doesn't make the picture anymore legible for gaming and it isn't impressive enough for watching video at the discounted $650 I got it for.
