Misshapen chrysalis
I have my cats in a butterfly cage on my back porch, up against the house. It’s secured so the wind won’t blow it over, but otherwise exposed to, but somewhat protected from, the elements.
I did not expect a squirrel fight on my porch though. They climbed my screen door and one of them leapt onto the cat’s cage while some of them were in a J-hang. The cage stayed upright the whole time, but the top bowed in a bit. Everyone seemed fine except one was hanging a bit straight, not a tight J.
The next day I woke up to the cats in their chrysalises, with this one looking like this.
I’m hopeful everything works out but not getting my hopes too high. I’ve been doing this at a small scale for years, usually only a few at a time, and this is the first year I had more than a dozen cats at once… and it’s looking like it may be the first time I may lose one. 😢 I know it was bound to happen at some time but it’s still disappointing when it does.
