game keeps freezing and crashing (desktop)

for like a week now the game has been unplayable for me on desktop, whenever I start it up it immediately freezes and then crashes. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it multiple times, I've installed it with steam, I've verified the integrity of the game files, I've checked my drivers (they're all up to date etc etc), I don't know what to do anymore. it really sucks also because I payed for the mastery pass and would have really liked to finish it before the new set drops and I hate playing on mobile. I've never had any problems like this before and I can't find anything about others struggling with this right now so I thought I'd just try my luck here. thanks for any ideas in advance
