Newer GPUs Are Overrated – A Chill Gamer’s Perspective

Look, I get it. The latest and greatest GPUs are tempting. I currently own both an RTX 3070 and an RX 6700 XT across my two PCs. But honestly? My playthrough of Halo Infinite on a GTX 1050 Ti was just fine.

Coming from someone who didn’t have a gaming PC growing up (GTA Vice City was peak gaming for me back then), I think people overhype the need for top-tier hardware. If you’re a laid-back gamer who just wants to enjoy a good time, a GTX 1050 Ti or 1060 will handle 95% of games just fine. Sure, you won’t max out settings, but do you really need 4K ultra with ray tracing to enjoy a game?

Unless you’re super competitive or chasing high refresh rates in demanding titles, mid-range and even older GPUs are still plenty capable. Anyone else feel like the GPU arms race is kinda pointless for most gamers?
