Lowered or Centered Crosshair?

Did you switch to Centered Crosshair? ..& if so did you do a little or a lot better with it?

Reason for asking is because I have around 6,000 hours in the game using the lowered crosshair, but a buddy of mine told me he switched to lowered crosshair recently and he has been doing much better. Does the centered crosshair have any downsides compared to the lowered crosshair?
