Lane etiquette question.

Hey everyone just wanted to get some input here. Obviously you wait for the person directly to the left or right of your lane to be respectful. I have seen a select few bowlers wait for the person not just to the next lane over but two lanes over. Is that something everyone should be doing? Feels like it messes with the pace especially when the alley is busy.
