A spinal surgeon in the United States will spend at least 9 years in college and in residency before working full time as doctor. How does that compare to requirements for doctors in the UK?

Not trying to get into a debate about healthcare. just curious as to how much variability their is across countries when it comes to training surgeons/doctors and nurses.
