Engineering (aerospace) college list with son's stats East Coast

We are from VA and next year will be our first college application journey (immigrant parents, kids born here). The kid is really into aerospace engineering and only has like 5-6 colleges on his list. I feel we are missing some good ones probably because of initial price tag (we will not qualify for any need based aid). So his stats are 3.8Unweighted/4.5Weighted GPA, SAT right now 1450 but will be retaking (math at 740), 6 IB courses with highest rigor in math, physics, chemistry (all A/A+). ECs are - he is working past 2 years, in varsity sport with his High School, competitively plays music instrument since 6yo, teacher assistant in the school (physics I think), white male. His list of schools are VA Tech, UVA, Purdue, Georgia tech (though definitely a very hard unlikely reach), North Carolina University in Raleigh, Michigan State. Those are all public schools with high price tags for out of state, our instate publics are also high price.

So my question would be with his stats do we have enough safeties here? and what else can we add to the list? RPI, RIT, WPI? Those are private and price tag is $80K+, this is above our price tolerance (would love to stay around $50-55K or anything under).
